3. Do you think Imus should be silenced? Why?
I personally believe that Imus should not be silenced because he's not the only person who says racial and sexist slurs. Many comedians base their jokes on racial and sexist slurs. Also because usually citizens tell jokes by saying racial and sexist things but against their own race or sex. Another reason is because Imus did apologize for his actions.
One group of people that use racial slurs just as Imus are comedians. Comedians such as Carlos Mencia use racial and sexist slurs on every show they have. One reason people don't get offended when Carlos Mencia says things like that is because they believe that as a comedian he has that right because that's his job. I believe that Imus should not be punished because he talks about everyone just as comedians do.
Usually when citizens decide to make jokes they talk about their own sex or race. They believe that since they are making slurs against their own race or sex that is okay because their "clowning" on themselves. There's common joke that I have heard from a Mexican that goes: Did you ever hear the story about the Mexican tha went to college. No. Me neither. That joke is commonly told between Mexicans and is never taken offended. Imus should not be punished for saying "nappy-headed hos" because people say racial and sexist things all the time and never get offended by it.
Imus shouldn't be punished for what he said because he did apologize publicly for it. After he apologized the Rutgers accepted their apology and had no problem with him as a person. Imus did the right thing by apologizing and took it upon himself to apologize. He apologized for what he said and shouldn't lose his job over somethimg small like this.
In conclusion I believe that Imus shouldn't be punished for say he said. As I said before many comedians have said racial and sexist things without being ounished. Also, people talk about their own race and sex all the time, it's freedom of speech. Another thing that I mention before is he apologized for the thing he said. So I believe that what he said isn't right and when people say it it's even worst but he apologized for it and as long as it's not bothering the Rutgers or their coach other people such as the NAACP shouldn't take it upon their selves to get involved.

Great post Anjelica. I was impressed with how organized it is and how clearly you expressed your ideas. Using specific evidence, such as with the Mexican joke, helped you make your point.
