Don Imus Controversy

3. Do you think Imus should be silenced? Why?

I personally believe that Imus should not be silenced because he's not the only person who says racial and sexist slurs. Many comedians base their jokes on racial and sexist slurs. Also because usually citizens tell jokes by saying racial and sexist things but against their own race or sex. Another reason is because Imus did apologize for his actions.

One group of people that use racial slurs just as Imus are comedians. Comedians such as Carlos Mencia use racial and sexist slurs on every show they have. One reason people don't get offended when Carlos Mencia says things like that is because they believe that as a comedian he has that right because that's his job. I believe that Imus should not be punished because he talks about everyone just as comedians do.

Usually when citizens decide to make jokes they talk about their own sex or race. They believe that since they are making slurs against their own race or sex that is okay because their "clowning" on themselves. There's common joke that I have heard from a Mexican that goes: Did you ever hear the story about the Mexican tha went to college. No. Me neither. That joke is commonly told between Mexicans and is never taken offended. Imus should not be punished for saying "nappy-headed hos" because people say racial and sexist things all the time and never get offended by it.

Imus shouldn't be punished for what he said because he did apologize publicly for it. After he apologized the Rutgers accepted their apology and had no problem with him as a person. Imus did the right thing by apologizing and took it upon himself to apologize. He apologized for what he said and shouldn't lose his job over somethimg small like this.

In conclusion I believe that Imus shouldn't be punished for say he said. As I said before many comedians have said racial and sexist things without being ounished. Also, people talk about their own race and sex all the time, it's freedom of speech. Another thing that I mention before is he apologized for the thing he said. So I believe that what he said isn't right and when people say it it's even worst but he apologized for it and as long as it's not bothering the Rutgers or their coach other people such as the NAACP shouldn't take it upon their selves to get involved.

Don Imus Controversy

1. According to the NAACP, why should Imus be silenced?

According to the NAACP Imus should be sienced because he said a racial and sexist slur on his radio show. The NAACP believes that all discrimination should be stopped. They feel that if Imus is allowed to say racial and sexist slurs on the radio than that might be a gateway for others to say the same thing.

2. According to Frank Rich, why should Imus not be silenced?

Frank Rich believes that Imus shouldn't be silenced because there have been many other comedians which have also said racial and sexist slurs and they don't ever get punished for their actions. He also believes that Frank Rich doesn't just discriminate against African-Americans he discriminates against all races and sexes.

Fahrenheit 451 pp. 110-125

In this section Montag has to burn down his house because his wife betrayed him and turned in an alarm. Also Montag burns Beatty and rus to Faber's house.

One sentence that I felt was descripyive was on page 114. It's the foruth paragraph on that page. The sentence is: The front door opened; Mildred came down the steps, running, one suitcase held with a dreamlike clenching rigidity in her fist, as a beetle-taxi hissed to the curb.

This sentence to me appeals to seeing. The verbs are clenching and hissed and the adjectives are dreamlike and beetle-taxi.

What I Love...

One thing that I love is my nephew! He makes me happy when he gives me big hugs and attempts to squeeze me tight it feels as if a little boy has just protected me from safety. When he kisses me it feels as if I just got out from the swimming pool because my face is all wet. When we play he gets this big smile on his face that sort of resembles the smiling symbol of Mc Donalds. One thing that I love that he says is, "Can I touch your hair?" He reminds me of the little kids in the movies. The ones that are so little but yet they have their own way of living and thinking. The reason I say that is because on ths movie Look Who's Talking the little boy has his own train of thought and even though he can't talk he still talks like a grown-up that's how my nephew's voice is. It sounds as if he knows what he's talking about!

10) If you act justly, will you find happiness?

In my opinion if you act justly you won't find true happiness. The reason I feel this way is because everyone has different views on what happiness is. To some people happiness may be to see a deceased relative but how is that possible to bring someone back from the dead? I mean I believe that true happiness is in the opinion of others and that we as a whole cannot agree on what true happiness is. To other people true happiness can be starting conflict (President Bush) and yet if they act justly they will only hurt themselves or finally get tired of acting justly and hurt others. Not everyone will like living in a "perfect" world. I mean how do you act justly anyways? Does anybody know? Basically our view on acting justly is some other person's opinion on what they feel is right and wrong. So in my opinion you will not find happiness by acting justly.

I have 2 questions!

Why is it right for President Bush to start conflicts?

AND

If the president, the leader of our country, can start conflicts and not act justly then why should citizens act justly?
