My Rage ---------> Cause

I was angry when my dad told me that I wasn't going to be able to go any where durng the weekends that I'm with him. The event that lead to this restriction was when I called my dad and told him that I was at my cousin's house and I was supposed to be at my friends house. After I told him, he got mad and told me that me and my sister weren't going to be able to doing anything on the weekend because we didn't "tell him" everything we were planning on doing. The only reason we didn't tell him was because he was already mad. He was mad because we kept calling him on his girlfriend's phone and they were out of town. That really made me mad because I wouldn't be on restriction if he would've had his phone and answered it then I wouldn't be in trouble right now and I would be able to go out on the weekend. Another thing that added to my rage was when my dad called back and he was acting all calm when just a minute ago he was yelling at me and my sister.

Fahrenheit 451 pp. 81-91

One quetion I have is what does Montag mean when he says, "and maybe if I talk long enough, it'll make sense."? What will make sense?

B. Faber jokingly proposes a plan of action and then starts to discuss it seriously with Montag. What is the plan of action? More importantly, why does he say it won’t work? Analyze his answer. Why won't it work?

The plan is to print extra copies of the books, plant them in the firemen's houses, turn in an alarm, and watch their houses burn. One reason Faber says it won't work is because the war is going on and everybody has their parlors on and the "families" might see them. I think it won't work because they are far more "avergae" people then there are professors, and othe people who are willing to become knowledgeable. Another reason I belive it won't work is because there are probably going to some professors and other people who want or love to read that are not going to be willing to die over books especially since they know that it won't work. That is why I think it won't work.

One question that I had while reading this section was, What did Denham's have to do with anything?

1)What does Montag mean when he says that books "point, one way or another, to Clarisse?"

Montag compared two books to Clarisse. One book was about friendship. The quote was, "We cannot tell the precise moment when friendship is formed. As in filling a vessel drop by drop, there is at last a drop which makes it run over; so in a series of kindness there is at last one which makes the heart run over." After reading that quote, Montag probably thought that he didn't know when he formed a friendship with Clarisse but he knew he had formed one with her. Clarisse's friendship was great while it lasted but he knew that it had to end someday and when it did it it basically shattered his heart because he could've gotten more out of it. Another book which reminded him of Clarisse was one which was titled "That Favourite Subject, Myself" because Mildred did only think of herself but Clarisse didn't and that was something special about her. Clarisse was willing to put her embarrassment on the line to talk to others and give them a little bit of joy. The reason he compares books to Clarisse is because she is different just as all books are. Also, because she has impacted Montag;s life in one way or another and if you take a book and read it, it has a moral and it teaches you a lesson by which you feel like changing.
